In keeping with its founding purposes the club supports many community related activities. The club is involved and offers interested youth groups an introduction to fly-fishing and fly tying as well.
There is magic in the interplay between kayak and paddle, water and fish, angler and nature. The Heros on the Water kayak fishing program offers warriors and veterans a chance to decompress from the stresses associated with combat and the physical rigors of rehabilitation.
The club supports Combat Veterans to Careers whose mission is to Provide 360 Degrees Of Support and Opportunities and to Enhance The Quality of Life for our Combat Veterans and Their Families.
The club is proud to be involved with Project Healing Waters Fly-fishing (PHWFF) which began in 2005 serving wounded military service members at Walter Reed Army Medical Center re-turning from combat in Iraq and Afghanistan. Since then, PHWFF has expanded nationwide, establishing its highly successful program in Department of Defense hospitals, Warrior Transi-tion Units, and Veterans Affairs Medical Centers and clinics. Club member volunteers provide clinics on basic fly-fishing, fly casting, fly tying and rod building. Participants ranging from be-ginners who have never fished before, to those with prior fly-fishing and tying experience are adapting their skills to their new abilities.
