In keeping with its founding purposes the club supports many community related activities. The club is involved and offers interested youth groups an introduction to fly-fishing and fly tying as well.
Over the years the materials and tools used for our various youth instruction programs had become an eclectic collection of bits and pieces. This year we received a generous donation for use with our current program at the Florida Sherriff’s camp from the gracious folks at Wapsi Fly Co. It seemed appropriate to create a container for these tools and materials so they can all be kept together. It is easier now to keep track of the stuff and this should also make set up and clean up more efficient. Attached are a few pictures of the project. I enjoyed making it.
For the woodworking buffs in our group, except for the hardware attachment there are no fasteners used. All of the materials used to make the box were scrap pieces from other projects. It is mostly Baltic birch plywood and red oak edging at the wear points. Hopefully it will serve our purposes for years to come.
