Welcome to the Tri-County Fly Fishers Website.
Tri-County Fly Fishers, Inc. is a not for profit Club whose members have a true love for fly-fishing. We welcome anyone who wants to learn how to fly fish and gain experience in the art of fly tying; and become an active member of the fly-fishing Club.
This Club is made up of about eighty members from beginners to those with 50+ years of fly-fishing and tying experi-ence. Fishing interests range from bluegills and bass to redfish and tarpon, with an occasional rainbow or brown trout from up north or out west thrown in. Today, membership is drawn from permanent and seasonal residents of those in and around the Florida counties of Lake, Sumter and Marion.

March 2019 Presidents Message

Welcome and thanks to all members who have chosen to be part of the Tri -County Fly Fishers Club. I'm happy to report that as of March 1, 82% of our 2018 membership base has renewed their membership for 2019, bringing us to approximately 83 members strong. I’ve said this before but I really feel that we have one of the best, if not the best, fly fishing Clubs in the region and it is our members that make a difference. It’s always been a goal of mine to make this Club fun, one that guys (and gals) would want to be a part of. With the help and hard work of Bob Heinbach, and the Board, I feel that our educational and informative presentations and our activities, events and outings give our members a “bang for their buck”. I appreciate the effort of those of you who have stepped up to volunteer your time within various aspects of the Club this past year. Thank you. Of note: Jim B. has decided to step down as membership chairman so if anyone is interested in this Board position, please let me know.

So we have some exciting events happening in March. A few Club members participated by volunteering their time up in Ocala for the Florida SpringsFest. Although we had a light turnout visiting our tent, those that participated had a great time. Plus the music was awesome! I want to personally thank the Club members that gave up their free time to volunteer for this event. I also want to thank those members who volunteered their time at The Villages Outdoor Expo in late February.

On March 13 we are hosting our Tiers/Casters Fishing Tournament out at Grand Oaks. Bob has assured me there will be a winning team splitting the $160 prize money. If you are not participating, come on out and cheer or jeer your favorite team!

Finally, on March 27, our annual TCFF Picnic will take place at Wooten Park in Tavares from 11:30am-2pm. Food, games and door prizes will be available. This event is headed up by Barry Palmer and crew. A $5.00 donation is required to attend. Please contact Barry if you are planning on attending.

Check out the Club blog for more information on any of these upcoming events.

In the meantime...go fish!
Larry
