Welcome to the Tri-County Fly Fishers Website.
Tri-County Fly Fishers, Inc. is a not for profit Club whose members have a true love for fly-fishing. We welcome anyone who wants to learn how to fly fish and gain experience in the art of fly tying; and become an active member of the fly-fishing Club.
This Club is made up of about eighty members from beginners to those with 50+ years of fly-fishing and tying experi-ence. Fishing interests range from bluegills and bass to redfish and tarpon, with an occasional rainbow or brown trout from up north or out west thrown in. Today, membership is drawn from permanent and seasonal residents of those in and around the Florida counties of Lake, Sumter and Marion.

May 2019 Presidents Message

Welcome to our Tri-County Fly Fishers website. I think it’s safe to say, while not official, summer weather is upon us. While it’s been hot and somewhat steamy here, I just returned from a short trip to Colorado where it was 72 degrees one day and 33 degrees and dumping up to 2 feet of snow in the high country the next! With this hot weather comes the annual migration north of many of our Club member snowbirds. Don’t forget to send us your fishing reports! You can send the information to either Bob or me for posting. If you send an email with a brief description of: where you were fishing, date, and who participated and photos, (weather, tides, flies used is optional) we will post it. Any pertinent information to make the article interesting would be helpful. Remember we are suspending both our breakfast and our evening meetings during the months of June, July and August. We may get together for social gatherings on any given Friday over at Grand Oaks. If we do, Bob will send out an email blast to the Club indicating the day and time. Fishing is optional but breakfast and fish stories are welcome!

Bob Levin reports our 2019 membership, including our life, honorary and over 85 members, is 87 strong with lots of new faces in the Club! If you get the chance, please reach out to our newest members at the upcoming meetings and welcome them. Thank you!

Join us for founding member Ed Rapisardi’s 90th birthday celebration at Elan Buena Vista on May 9th from 2pm-4pm. Bob will put out an email blast very soon with details.

This month’s evening meeting will be given by Dr. Chuck Cichra from the University of Florida on "Florida’s Aquatic Invertebrates and Critters”.  This is one presentation you won’t want to miss!

Also, Bob has a couple of dates set up to work with Jon Cave on learning or refining your casting skills at his school in Oviedo. Contact Bob if you are interested.

Lastly, don’t forget about our TCFF Fly Casters and Fly Tying groups. Always a great turnout and always a fun time! For detailed information, please visit the Club calendar page and blog.

As always, if you have any ideas, would like to join a committee, or have speakers or programs in mind, please bring it to my or any board member's attention. Don’t forget to visit the Club calendar page and blog for more information or updates on upcoming events, trips and outings.

In the meantime...go fish!

Larry
