Welcome to the Tri-County Fly Fishers Club Website.
Tri-County Fly Fishers Club is a not for profit Club whose members have a true love for fly-fishing. We welcome anyone who wants to learn how to fly fish and gain experience in the art of fly tying; and become an active member of the fly-fishing Club.
This Club is made up of about eighty members from beginners to those with 50+ years of fly-fishing and tying experi-ence. Fishing interests range from bluegills and bass to redfish and tarpon, with an occasional rainbow or brown trout from up north or out west thrown in. Today, membership is drawn from permanent and seasonal residents of those in and around the Florida counties of Lake, Sumter and Marion.

New Home for Tri-County Fly Fishers Beginning February 19, 2020

We have some exciting news! Grand Oaks Resort is now the Home of Tri-County Fly Fishers. Because of our unique relationship with Grand Oaks Resort, our Board of Directors and Grand Oaks Resort management have a reached an agreement to provide the Club the use of their meeting rooms and facilities for all of our business and breakfast meetings, evening meetings and presentations, our monthly fly tying sessions, and other events as identified. We believe this will be a mutually beneficial arrangement for both the Club and Grand Oaks Resort.

September Presidents Message

President’s Message – September 2022
Fall weather is coming and I’m hoping things will cool off a bit. It’s been a long hot summer. It’s that exciting time of the year to wake up the club and start holding monthly meetings and functions. Larry is setting up our calendar with some great speakers. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again and doing some fishing.
Some good news is that Grand Oaks Resort is no longer for sale and its business as usual. The Bistro is scheduled to re-open on September 3rd with reduced hours. I highly recommend we give the Bistro as much business as we can to keep them in the black. As in the past, the club will hold Business and Presentation meetings at Grand Oaks both in the Bistro and the Bridge Room. The new hours at the Bistro are listed below:
Sunday Brunch: 9 AM to 3 PM.
Closed Monday and Tuesday:
Wednesday through Saturday: 11 AM to 8 PM.
The September Business Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 7, in the Bistro at Grand Oaks Resort starting at 11:00 AM. I’d like to hold a single general meeting with all members present. If we are unable to do so due to other patrons, we will hike down to the Bridge Room for more privacy.
The club will hold a fly-tying session on Monday, September 12, in the library at Pinellas Plaza from 2 to 4 PM. Please note that the monthly dates of these sessions vary with room availability. We are holding these get togethers at Pinellas Plaza instead of Grand Oaks to make them more available to most members.
The September Presentation meeting will be held on September 21 at 2:00 PM in the Bridge Room at Grand Oaks Resort. Our very own Dan Dauchess will be giving a presentation entitled “There Is More to A Pond Than Fish.” The presentation will feature all sorts of birds, animals, butterflies, and plants, etc., that live around a pond.  It should be of interest to both non-fishers and fishers who enjoy nature. The pictures come from 20 years of living on a pond and keeping a camera handy. Expect to see something you have not seen before. There will be fly tying demonstrations and fly-casting tips starting about an hour prior to the meeting.
Bob Levin is stepping down as both Membership and Outreach Program
Chairs. We’ll miss seeing Bob and hearing his not so brief briefs – only kidding, Bob. Don Phillips has volunteered to be the acting Membership Chairman until his position can be voted upon by the Board. The club is looking for someone to take over our Outreach Program, which currently is mostly with the Boy Scouts of America. Let me know if you’re interested.
