Breakfast and Business Meetings

Our monthly Breakfast and Business Meetings will be held in The Bistro at Grand Oaks Resort and are scheduled for the 1st Wednesday of each month (except June, July, and August). On those days, The Bistro will open at 8 AM for our convenience and you can order from their menu at members’ expense. The Business portion of the meeting will also be held in The Bistro and will start at 9:30 AM. After the meeting, you can fish in the ponds or practice your casting out on the lawn.

President’s Message – June, 2022

Summer is upon us and we can expect hurricane warnings and afternoon thunderstorms. Bass fishing is perhaps best done with dawn patrols. In past years, I’ve found that when lake water gets to 86 degrees or hotter that Bass fishing really slows down. When this happens, it’s best to go after fish that like it hot. Saltwater Snook come to mind, as well as freshwater Tilapia. The club is going to setup pay-to-fish outings for Barramundi at Osceola Outdoor Adventures in June and August. These fish love it hot and take surface flies, run, and jump. Lots of fun.

The club will remain active throughout the summer with some key functions. I intend to keep writing the weekly Newsletter and Fishing Plan but will make it much shorter and focus on fishing. Also, I usually take a break during the summer for about a month, usually towards the end of summer.

We will continue to hold our monthly Fly Tying sessions the first Monday or Tuesday of each month. We changed the venue to the Sumter County Library located in the Pinellas Plaza to make it more accessible to most members. You don’t have to be a tyer to enjoy the banter. These are fun two-hour events with like-minded people.

Articles of Association of Tri-County Fly Fishers of Lake, Marion, and Sumter Counties Florida 

To further common of Fly Fishing, the members agree to organize under these Articles of Association and Bylaws, 

Article One. Name 

This organization shall be called “Tri-County Fly Fishers Club of Lake, Marion, and Sumter Counties, Florida," and is referred to in the Bylaws as the “Organization." 

Article Two. Principal Office The principal office of the Association shall be at 886 Chapman Loop, The Villages, FL 32162. 

The Association may have such other offices as from time to time may be designated by its members or by its executive committee. 

Article Three. Purposes This Organization is a not for profit membership based social club. Funds will be raised from its members and used for the benefit of its members for meetings expenses, subsidizing social events etc. and the conduct of its business activities. Other purposes as follows:...
