Welcome to the Tri-County Fly Fishers Club
We are a community of anglers—men and women from diverse backgrounds—brought together by a shared passion for the art and sport of fly fishing.
Our members range from beginners just starting their journey to seasoned fly fishers with more than sixty years of experience on the water. This mix of perspectives creates a vibrant environment where learning, teaching, and camaraderie thrive.
With about ninety members strong, the Club is built on fellowship, conservation, and the joy of casting a line. Many of our members possess immense knowledge of fly fishing and fly tying, and they are always eager to share their skills with others.
Whether you are new to the sport or a lifelong angler, you’ll find a welcoming place here to grow, connect, and celebrate the traditions of fly fishing
Membership at Tri-County Fly Fishers Club
Our membership is drawn from both permanent and seasonal residents in and around Florida’s Lake, Sumter, and Marion counties. What unites us is simple: a shared love of fishing.
The Club organizes and conducts informal weekly outings, giving members the chance to enjoy fellowship on the water while honing their skills. Here in Florida, we target warm-water species in local lakes and rivers, as well as saltwater species along the Gulf Coast, the Atlantic, and South Florida.
Many of our members also travel far and wide, pursuing fish across the United States and around the world. Wherever the waters lead, our passion for fly fishing connects us.
Teaching & Instruction at Tri-County Fly Fishers Club
At the heart of our Club is a commitment to teaching and sharing the art of fly fishing with new members and the public. This includes instruction in both fly tying and fly casting—skills that form the foundation of our sport.
· Community Outreach: Each February, we proudly demonstrate fly tying and casting at The Villages Outdoor Expo, introducing the public to the craft and tradition of fly fishing.
· Skill Development: Every April, our partner Jon Cave, through his Performance Fly Fishing School, offers a fly-casting refresher for Club members—benefiting both newcomers and seasoned anglers.
· Monthly Groups: Our TCFF Fly Casters and TCFF Fly Tying Group meet monthly, always drawing strong participation and enthusiasm.
· Special Access: Thanks to our relationship with Grand Oaks Resort in Weirsdale, FL, members enjoy the unique opportunity to fish private ponds on the property, pursuing largemouth bass in a beautiful setting.
Through these programs, we foster learning, camaraderie, and conservation, ensuring that fly fishing traditions continue to thrive in our community.
Club Presentations & Guest Speakers
The Tri-County Fly Fishers Club is proud to provide quality speakers and member presentations at our afternoon meetings. These sessions are both informative and educational, offering members fresh insights into the many facets of fly fishing.
Past presentations have included:
• Fly fishing Louisiana for bull redfish
• Trout fishing adventures in New Zealand
• Kayak fishing on Crystal River
• Fly fishing for shad on the St. Johns River
Through these programs, members gain exposure to diverse techniques, destinations, and species, enriching both their knowledge and their enjoyment of the sport.
Social Activities at Tri-County Fly Fishers Club
Beyond the fishing, our Club thrives on fellowship and fun. Social activities bring members together, strengthen friendships, and celebrate our shared passion for the sport.
These gatherings are always filled with laughter, stories, and the spirit of community. We invite you to drop by, join us, and experience the joy of being part of the Tri-County Fly Fishers Club.
